Verify the person first
A report is only as good as the identity behind it. Every screening starts with document OCR and a live facial match, not a name someone typed into a form.
About RentKey
Most tenant screening checks a name against a database and calls it done. RentKey verifies the person first, then the money, then the record — built by Crown Stack Systems for landlords in Canada and the United States.
Why RentKey exists
The rental market runs on trust between people who have never met. A landlord hands over a home on the strength of an application; an applicant hands over personal information on the promise it will be used fairly. Screening is supposed to be the thing that makes that trade safe for both sides.
Most screening services aren't built for that job. They check a typed name against one credit bureau and a domestic criminal database, and call it done. Borrowed documents, synthetic identities and applicants with no domestic footprint yet can pass straight through — precisely the cases where a landlord needs the most certainty, not the least.
Landlords deserve to know the person applying is real, can pay, and isn't on a list that would put them or their building at risk. Applicants deserve a process that asks for consent, requires no SIN or SSN to run the report, and shows them facts rather than a black-box score. RentKey is built to do both at once.
"Verify the person first. Everything else in a tenancy decision follows from that."

What we believe
A report is only as good as the identity behind it. Every screening starts with document OCR and a live facial match, not a name someone typed into a form.
Every finding in a RentKey report shows where it came from — a credit bureau, a sanctions list, a court. No hidden scoring, no unexplained result.
We report verifiable records — credit, sanctions, court and eviction history — never social profiles or protected characteristics. What you see is what you can lawfully act on.
An applicant sees who is asking and what will be checked before anything runs. That consent is logged with the report, not buried in fine print.
The same six checks and the same report format apply whether the property is in Canada or the United States — no watered-down version for either market.
Biometric scans are deleted within a day of the match. Reports are kept for seven years, then deleted, with the deletion on the record.
Part of Crown Stack Systems
RentKey is built and operated by Crown Stack Systems, based in Toronto, Ontario. RentKey runs on the same sanctions-screening infrastructure as Crown Intelligence, Crown Stack's dedicated screening engine, so the watchlist, PEP and law-enforcement checks in every report are maintained in-house rather than licensed from a third party.
Payments, identity verification and report generation are shared platform services across Crown Stack Systems. That lets RentKey stay focused on the rental use case: inviting an applicant, running the checks a tenancy decision calls for, and handing the landlord one report they can act on.
