How it works for developers

From sandbox credentials to a finished report in four steps.

  1. Get sandbox credentials

    Request early access and we'll issue sandbox API credentials so you can build against a working integration.

  2. Create a screening

    Call the API from your backend: choose the package, the applicant's contact details, who pays, and where to send the webhook.

  3. Applicant verifies and consents

    The applicant follows your invite link to RentKey's hosted page, verifies their identity and gives consent — your platform never touches their documents or biometrics.

  4. Get the webhook and report

    We call your callback URL when the report is ready. Fetch it by ID and show it in your product, or pass through the branded PDF.

Your platform never has to hold the PII.

Screening only works if applicants trust it. The sensitive parts stay with RentKey, not with you.

Consent captured by us

The applicant sees the disclosure and gives consent inside RentKey's flow. Your product never has to collect or store that consent itself.

Your platform stays out of the PII path

Identity documents and biometric data go to RentKey, not to you. You request and receive the report — never the raw applicant data behind it.

Expiring report links

Reports are shared by link, and the link expires. There's nothing sensitive sitting in your database by default.

Retention windows per partner

Set how long RentKey keeps a partner's reports. When the window closes, they're deleted from our systems too.

Do you sell applicant data?

No, never. Data collected during screening is used only to produce the report you requested. It isn't sold or shared for any other purpose.

Can we use our own report template?

Yes. White-label partners can present the report in their own template and branding. Hosted-flow partners use RentKey's standard report format.

What happens if your API is down?

Invites already sent keep working — screenings are queued and processed as soon as service is restored. We also maintain a status page partners can check.

Which markets do you cover?

Canada and the United States. Every package covers both countries; coverage for court, tribunal and eviction records varies by province and state, and is stated on each report.
